HERSHEY TOWNE SQUARE DESIGNED BY TONO GROUP
LANCASTER-BASED ARCHITECTURAL FIRM CHOSEN TO DESIGN MONUMENTAL PROJECT IN DOWNTOWN HERSHEY
TONO Architects makes its debut in Derry Township
Lancaster, PA—(February 14, 2017)— Project developers, Wormleysburg-based RVG Management & Development Company announce their newest project, named Hershey Towne Square, in Derry Township. The developers have chosen TONO Architects (A TONO Group company) to design the site.
Spanning an entire city block in the heart of downtown Hershey, PA, on West Chocolate Avenue and Ridge Road, the planned “Main on Main” mixed-use development is located between Ridge and Laurel Roads—less than one mile from Hershey Park and is estimated at $28 million.
RVG purchased the property in October of 2016. The planned space is comprised of three separate buildings and a new parking structure. The project includes:
1. the renovation of an existing 2-story, 56,000-square-foot structure (once home of the Hershey Post Office);
2. the construction of a new single-story 12,500 square foot, multi-tenant retail space;
3. the construction of a new three-story, mixed-use building of 21,000 sq. ft. of retail space and 44,000 sq. ft. of luxury apartments totaling 32;
4. the construction of a new, multi-level parking structure (estimated to hold 400 parking spaces).
Retail tenants (including shops and restaurants) are being asked to occupy the space—encompassing a larger strategic vision conducive to a modern, walkable, and pedestrian-friendly environment. The site is one of the last remaining under-developed properties in downtown Hershey.
“The project was approached with the intent to create a new modern aesthetic that overlays and pays homage to the city’s industrial past. With a mix of material use and articulation, the material massing appears as a fusion between traditional and modern design,” said project architect, Kyle Solyak, AIA, LEED AP.
*Final scope of the project is pending township approval and tax incentives.
