TONO Profiles: Steve Testerman
WHO WE ARE. WHAT WE DO. HOW WE WORK.
Get to know our Senior Site Superintendent, Steve Testerman!
My name is Steve Testerman.
I have worked at TONO Group since April 2017 – January 2019, and again starting October 2024.
As a Site Superintendent, it is my job to provide site supervision to all active projects and to mentor and oversee our field staff.
I served in the United States Army, 173 Airborne Brigade from 1967 – 1971 with two tours in Vietnam.
Something you will always find on my desk is a hidden snack – usually peanut butter crackers.
What’s one part of your daily routine that you’ll never change?
I’m an extremely early riser and like to be on the job site one to two hours before our trade partners arrive in order to prepare for the day’s activities.
What’s your favorite hobby or past time when outside of the office?
Riding my Harley Davidson through the Great Smokey Mountains.
What was your favorite project to work on at TONO Group and why?
Silver Herring Jewelry Store in Waldorf, Maryland in 2018.
What is an achievement, inside or outside of work, that you are proud of?
About 10 years ago, I sponsored a mother and two children through a program with the local VFW to help get them back on their feet. This included rallying a number of other VFW club members to surprise the family with a Christmas tree and gifts one year that they would not otherwise have had.
If you could pass on one bit of knowledge to someone who might not understand the work you do, what would you tell them?
Live ahead of your task and plan well in advance!
