DEVON CREEK

Situated in the heart of Lancaster County, Devon Creek is a bespoke community inspired by the region’s tranquil countryside. At the center of the development, residential builders Keystone Custom Homes, envisioned an amenities-rich clubhouse that would inspire residents to gather and seek respite. TONO Group, a multidisciplinary family of design and construction companies, master-planned the site and designed all aspects of the complex including space for a café, great room, restrooms, fitness center, and outdoor pool area. Within the constraints of a modest corner site and a limited budget, the new recreational facility demanded a strong identity that would reflect the community’s bucolic setting while also offering the modern sensibilities expected by today’s discerning homeowner.

OUR APPROACH

The design team emphasized the scale and articulation of each structure to maximize impact within the site’s limited footprint. Pulling from an undercurrent of Lancaster County farmhouse architecture, the clubhouse features a distinct gabled roofline and crisp white siding contrasted by accents of stone veneer. A black, standing seam metal roof and timber frame structure pay homage to the regional vernacular while offering a warm welcome to residents. Inside, a vaulted, tongue-and-groove wood ceiling adds grandeur that is accentuated by timber frame beams and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace. To ensure the interior character complemented the architecture, TONO Group’s design company, Interiors by DECO, was commissioned to curate a rustic-contemporary aesthetic balancing comfort and sophistication.

OUTCOME

Throughout the project, careful consideration was given to establishing intimate spaces for residents to socialize, rest, and reinvigorate – both indoors and outside in nature. The design was crafted with thoughtful intent to ensure all materials could withstand exposure to weather, water from the on-site swimming pool and locker room facilities, and prolonged wear. Coupled with its timeless design, the Devon Creek amenities complex is sure to be enjoyed by many families for years to come.
