SKETCHES FROM EUROPE

by | Jul 2017 | TEAM

This trip was a reconnection for me.

I spent a lot of time in Vicenza, Verona, Florence, and Venice in the summer of 1989 when I studied abroad so it was cool to return. At that time, one of the courses I took was a sketching class. I’d been through four years of college already so I knew how to draw and liked the idea of sitting down and capturing the essence of something—whether it be a hilltop, Tuscan village, or a detail on the front of a church edifice.

This summer these sketches were done in anywhere from 5-15 minutes and sometimes I was literally riding in the tour bus and passing something and taking my mental snapshot. With these I was trying to bring back my old hand, that hasn’t been used for a long time, to see if it was still there.

Don't Miss Out.
