Get to know our Foreman, Ben Hitchcock!

My name is Ben Hitchcock.

I have worked at TONO Group since October 2024.

It is my job to be responsible for overseeing daily operations at a worksite to ensure the completion of projects in a safe and efficient manner. I am also involved with tasks to be completed throughout projects. Communication between the TONO/PROTO team and trades on site is one of the biggest parts of my job.

Something you will always find on my desk is a set of drawings or not much at all since I am mostly in the field and keep everything I need in my truck.

Something I have learned from a coworker is that no matter what, there is a solution to everything. Learning the skill to adapt when a challenge rises can be incredibly valuable in the field.

What’s one part of your daily routine that you’ll never change?

A cup of coffee. Striving to see progress each day on a project and helping the PROTO team in any way possible.

What is the best event/concert/show you’ve ever been to?

Probably the one and only Jimmy Buffet show I went to with my brothers.

What’s your favorite hobby or past time when outside of the office?

Definitely being outdoors hunting or fishing.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Besides being comfortable with heights and my agility/balance, my useless voice and accent imitations always make my kids laugh.

What was your favorite project to work on at TONO Group and why?

Faith River residence has been my favorite so far. Old timber beams meet a touch of modern design and finishes making an old church into a beautiful home.

What is an achievement, inside or outside of work, that you are proud of?

One of my best achievements was building a tiny house on my own that I would eventually start a family in.

If you could pass on one bit of knowledge to someone who might not understand the work you do, what would you tell them?

I would say that I work with a great team that oversees projects from start to finish ensuring that everything is done to a higher standard of construction whether it is residential or commercial. Taking note of every small detail and being able to see ten steps ahead so that a job can flow as smoothly as possible for each phase of the project.
