WHO WE ARE. WHAT WE DO. HOW WE WORK.
Get to know our Architectural Designer, Brandon Runnels, GGP!
My name is Brandon Runnels, and I’m originally from Williamsport, PA.
I have worked at TONO Group since March 2020, and work out of the West Chester office.
It is my job to create construction drawings, generate renderings for design development, and be involved in all project phases from conception through completed construction. I also have experience conducting existing building surveys, project management, and am a Green Globes Professional.
Something you’ll always find on my desk is an oversized coffee mug. I almost always bring coffee from home, but if I had the choice between Dunkin’ and Starbucks, I’d go with Dunkin’ every time (sorry Starbucks fans).
I’m currently working on a number of healthcare projects, as well as an industrial expansion project.
What’s one part of your daily routine that you’ll never change?
Other than coffee, followed by coffee?… probably my morning walk with the dog.
Name an achievement, inside or outside of work, that you’re proud of.
My professional path has been an interesting one, with a few detours along the way. Going back to school for my bachelors in 2010 is something I’m proud of. As for personal accomplishments, a friend and I have backpacked a number of trails in PA and try to cross off another trail each year.
What are some of your favorite travel destinations?
I spent my 30th birthday in Rome, and made pizza in an Italian restaurant before they opened for the day. It’s hard to top that. I also rented a car in Ireland and drove cross-country (which didn’t take long). Driving on the left of the road, from the right side of the car, all while driving stick was surprisingly difficult. It’s awesome that my wife and I both love road trips. So far we’ve driven through Arizona, Nevada, and California, stopping at Sedona, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, and Lake Tahoe. We’ve also done a few weekend trips on the east coast. I drive and she picks the music. The Pacific Coast Hwy is next on our list.
What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy being outside, whether it’s camping/backpacking, hunting, fishing, or kayaking. My wife and I also developed an interest in photography over the last few years, which pairs well with any outdoor activity. Every once in a while I get out a sketchbook and draw, which has led to creating my own greeting cards for family/friends.
A few samples of Brandon’s photography.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I find a lot of 4-leaf clovers, and almost every time it’s just from glancing at the ground when walking. I’ve probably found more than 30 at this point.
